Plating Finished Jewelry
If you choose to apply a plating to your piece, it is the very last step to be done after polishing and setting. Plating can be added to enhance the color of the piece, change its color, or add a layer of protection against tarnishing on base metals. Plating is an electrolytic process where a thin layer of metal is applied to the surface of a piece. Anything that is conductive can be plated.
The longevity of plating depends on the thickness and the how much wear and tear the piece gets. Our flash plating is economical at 0.15 microns thick. Heavy plating is 1.5 thick.
We offer plating in yellow gold (10K, 14K, 18K, & 24K), pink gold, green gold (14K and 18K), and black and white rhodium. Below, we show platings over high polish and satin for texture comparison.

White rhodium is often plated over silver or white gold to enhance the bright white look. (available as flash plating only)

Black rhodium achieves a gunmetal color, and generally looks darker on a high polish finish. (available as flash plating only)
